What: 2016 Stiletto Strut

Where: Neiman Marcus in the Galleria

Who: Chairwoman Ellen Elam; director of the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Cancer Dr. Matthew Ellis; emcee Jan Carson; Houston’s vice president of Neiman Marcus Bob Devlin; Lester and Sue Smith Foundation executive vice president Trish Morille; former Stiletto Strut chairs Trish Hayes and Trish Georgiou; honorary breast cancer survivors Debbie Alvarado, LaTonya Miles, and Anthony Rasch; fashionable guests included Maureen Rasch, Benjamin Barron, Peggy Carrington, Daniel Alvarado, Karina Barbieri, Katy Hole, Jeanine FlemingBrenda Love and daughter Lindsay Love, among others.

PC Moment: Over 125 guests of the annual Stiletto Strut strutted from Neiman Marcus in the Galleria wearing their favorite stilettos to show support and honor survivors of breast cancer — and they definitely turned a few heads.

This successful event raised more than $60,000 for the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Cancer Center, which is a foundation that focuses on the research, treatment, and prevention of breast cancer. There was also a champagne toast, small bites, a live auction of an original art piece by Houston artist Taft McWhorter, and the Art of Fashion show, sponsored by Neiman Marcus.

Additionally, McNair scholar and director of the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center Dr. Matthew Ellis presented Dr. Emily Sedgwick the C. Kent Osborne, M.D. Award for Medical Excellence. Jan Carson, the emcee, introduced the three guests of honor — Debbie Alvarado, LaTonya Miles, and Anthony Rasch — who are breast cancer survivors. This further instilled the message that the fight to eliminate cancer is ongoing and going strong
