Art Power Players Take Over Saks Fifth Avenue for a Kickoff to Remember: It’s Texas Contemporary Time

What: Texas Contemporary Art Fair, Sixth Edition, Kickoff Party

Where: Saks Fifth Avenue, Houston’s new Galleria flagship

Who: Saks store director Bobby Dees and PR/fashion director Sylvia Forsythe, joined by Fair founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause – in from New York for the occasion – welcomed an art-smart crowd of collectors and dealers to toast the upcoming Fair that unfurls Thursday, September 29 (through October 2 at George R. Brown). Collector contingent: Yvette and Scott Hill, Ken Christie, Carolyn Farb, Marc Melcher, Found’s Ruth Davis with husband Neill, and Cali and Peter Pettigrew, chatting with Fair exhibitors David Shelton, Barbara Davis, Cindy Lisica, Arturo Palacios, Apama Mackey, and Marianne Bruvel. Also on the scene The Houston Design Center’s Denzil Hollingsworth with wife EliseMichael Pearson, Maria Barnabe, Sharon and Tom DeWitt, and designer Uzo Agusiobo. Matt Johns and Alecia Harris of Matter presided as adroit party planners, while PaperCity once again serves as media sponsor for the Fair (as well as this swell evening hosted by Saks).

PC Moment: BeDesign’s Adrian Duenas acquired the door prize, a gift basket by Serge Lutens, the international luxury beauty brand, which also provided each guest an artful volume to go with their coveted Fair VIP pass.
