PC Moment: Avenue CDC hosted its 20th annual Art on the Avenue at the Winter Street Studio on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5. This two-night event was in celebration of 25 years of Avenue CDC and gathered a crowd of nearly 1,000 guests — standing firm as Houston’s largest charity silent art auction.

During the Preview Party, guests wandered the event space, listening to live music, eating light-bites, and art and jewelry made by local artists. PaperCity‘s Jailyn Marcel and James Brock curated the food that featured such delights as lobster bisque from Culinaire, strawberry and salmon crostini’s from Tout Suite, donut ice cream sandwiches from Lee’s Creamery, and more. Guests were treated to smooth music by Moodafaruka as they previewed and bid on the eclectic art featured.

Guest Juror Jennie Ash of Art League Houston of selected the winners of the evening, with Brian Ellison‘s photograph taking first place, Page Piland‘s mixed media artwork in second place, and Marlo Saucedo and Chell Vassallo took home honorable mentions for their separate pieces.

On Saturday evening, rhythm and blues musician Texas Johnny Boy rocked the house, as guests attended the auction and party, enjoying food provided by El Patio.

This PaperCity sponsored event ultimately featured art from more than 300 local artists, and raised more than $200,000 towards assisting Houston communities by developing affordable homes and housing for residents, providing home-buyer education and counseling programs, and more.
