PC Moment: Charismatic Sabah founder Mickey Ashmore — a Dallas native currently living in New York City — brought his collection of colorful handmade Turkish slide shoes to Houston. Ashmore, along with Found’s Ruth Davis and Aaron Rambo, kicked off the weekend’s pop-up shop with an evening of margaritas and revelry with Sabah’s cult followers and novice shoppers.

Each pair, based on the traditional Turkish slipper in a more attractive silhouette, is handmade by artisans in a 150-year-old workshop in Turkey, constructed of naturally tanned water buffalo leather, which molds to the feet. “I was excited to spend time at Found, as they celebrate their tenth year. I really like how they highlight unexpected beauty and collaborate with local artists to revitalize antiques and create original works of art. We strive to do that with each pair of Sabahs,” Ashmore said.

Ashmore, who recently opened a Sabah House in Dallas, also revealed upcoming additional trips to Houston in the works: “I would like to make a few stops a year in Houston and plan on returning to à bientôt, a chic, yet understated, quintessential Houston classic, in the Fall as we also do a temporary Sabah House, date TBD.”
