NY Armory Arts Week with *David Shelton: Day 2

BY David Shelton // 03.06.15

Ian Swanson at Bosi Contemporary on the Lower East Side. These paintings create a complex tension between figuration and abstraction. His “Aging” series works depict anonymous faces, as has much of his recent work, with beautiful painterly gestures that imply untold stories.

Henry Taylor at Untitled on the Lower East Side. Sensitive and deeply poignant paintings that  delve into the human condition, specifically the presumed American Dream. Spontaneous and beautifully rendered, with thoughtful and heartwarming gestures. Great news: You can see his most recent work very soon at Artpace in San Antonio, where he is currently an artist-in-residence.

Seth Adelsberger at SPRING/BREAK Art Show at Skylight at Moynihan Station. Unexpected and refreshing curator-driven presentations in former offices/rooms of the historic post office building across from Penn Station. There is a lot to see, so am going for round 2. Well worth it.
