Dallas’ Sweet Tooth Hotel is Making a Dramatic Comeback — and Rainbow Vomit is Bringing Its Own Fun

Crazy Fun Immersive Art is All the Rage, and Dallas is Emerging as a National Mecca

Bizarre and immersive art installations have become all the rage in Dallas this past year. It seems to have begun with Sweet Tooth Hotel, which first graced Dallas last summer with all things candy, doughnuts and cakes. A second installation returned in November with rocket ships and rainbows for its “1955” theme.

And later, we got Psychedelic Robot, which recently closed up shop.

Two more experiences have recently been revealed. This May, Sweet Tooth Hotel will be back with its third installation, “Discotech,” a combination of electronic music and new media. It will be a collaboration with the mixed reality studio px.lab.

A $20 ticket to the immersive experience includes a chance to explore the newly expanded 5,000 square foot space, which also has a bar. Silent disco headphones will be provided for your journey.

Not much else has been revealed about the new installation, except for this two minute teaser video on the Sweet Tooth Hotel Facebook page:

The second exhibition is called Rainbow Vomit. It opens this Friday, January 18th, and continues through February 17th. Located across the street from Fair Park, the 2,600 foot square space will be bursting with ROYGBIV. (Rainbow Vomit and the Sweet Tooth Hotel are not affiliated and are two different examples of immersive art.)

Superheroes, unicorns, 6,000 LED lights, 100 pounds of cotton, 50 pounds of glitter and five miles of ribbon will accompany your journey through the “clouds,” and I’m guessing, over the rainbow?

Most importantly, there will be more than 20 photo opportunities throughout the exhibit so bring your selfie stick. Tickets will run about $25 for general admission.

Here’s an ominous video from this one:
