From Paris to Dallas For One Starry Evening

The Dallas Museum of Art’s eagerly-anticipated exhibition, Dior: From Paris to the World, was showcased to great fanfare Tuesday night with a VIP event that perhaps could be called “From Paris to Dallas.” Guests entered through a Bryant Park-worthy tent erected for the party to find many local friends as well as a contingency of fans of the famed fashion house. Many  had traveled to Dallas to celebrate the exhibition that includes more than a 100 haute couture dresses, as well as accessories, photographs, original sketches, and runway videos that trace the iconic history of the beloved haute couture house.

Organized by the Denver Art Museum and curated by Florence Müller, DAM’s curator of textile art and fashion, the exhibition is locally presented by Sarah Schleuning, the senior curator of decorative arts and design at the DMA. The show is made possible through the generous support of Nancy and Richard Rogers who believe in the importance of having world-class exhibitions like Dior: From Paris to the World come to Dallas.

The exhibition profiles both Dior himself and subsequent artistic directors: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. All in attendance at the event were over-the-moon to see Chiuri and a line quickly formed to congratulate her on the exhibition and her recent collections.

Some of the DMA’s most ardent supporters, who happen to be fans of the house, came dressed in Dior. This group included Ann Hobson, Christen Wilson, Jennifer Karol, Peggy Sewell, and Tina Craig. Also looking Dior’licious were international celebrities Kate Bosworth, Zoey Deutch, Lea Thompson, Kat Graham, and Michael Polish, who all made their way to Dallas to raise a glass in honor of the magnificent exhibition and Chiuri.

Dior devotees in attendance included Melinda and Mark Knowles, Jennifer and John Eagle, Amy Hofland, Louise Eiseman, Caroline Kim, Moll and Charlie Anderson, Brian Bolke, Cindy Rachofsky, Deedee Rose, Catherine and Will Rose, Amy and Les Ware, Gayle Stoffel, Kara Goss, Rajan Patel, Emily Summers, Meghan Looney, and Geoffroy van Raemdonck.

Dior: From Paris to the World opens to the public this Sunday, May 19 and runs through September 1. Timed tickets are required for entry.
