Alex Bregman’s Impressive Hat and Carlos Correa’s Future Wife’s Dress Steal Show in Astros Homecoming Weekend

Video Game Cover Can't Compete With the Von Miller Collection

The boys were back in town this weekend — and it sometimes seemed like all of Houston turned out to see them. A record 12,000-plus showed up for the Houston Astros’ FanFest Saturday, a day that saw the unveiling of the franchise’s new Hall of Fame (and the orange jackets that go with induction), its first beer and its first video game cover star.

But while Bregman’s selection as RBI Baseball’s 2019 cover choice confirms his status as one of the new faces of MLB, it has nothing on his hat.

That would be the wide brimmed, cowboy-type hat he wore, sauntering into the Astros’ Diamond Dreams Gala Friday night. Yes, Alex Bregman can even out swag Earth, Wind & Fire and the unfortunate few who came to the gala thinking they were still in the 1970s.

“Where’d I get it,” Bregman says, repeating a reporter’s question. “It’s out of the Von Miller collection.”

Miller is the Denver Broncos’ pass rushing terror who is also known for being something of an eccentric. And for loving “interesting” hats.

On a night when Carlos Correa’s fiancee, Daniella Rodriquez, wore a stunning plunging emerald green dress that would have been at home on an Oscar red carpet, Bregman still managed to make his mark. And turn some heads.

“We need to go to another ESPYs or something for winning a World Series,” Bregman tells Jose Altuve on the Astros’ Diamond Dreams Gala’s modest orange carpet. “We’re going to have a red carpet or something, even if it’s here down the ramp.

“And we’re going to walk down it and try some different outfits.”

Altuve just shakes his head at his infield partner, which only encourages Bregman.

“Jose probably has the No. 1 fashion on our team,” Bregman says. “He has the latest Louis Vuitton. He’s a big YSL guy. He has the most swag on the team. I just try and follow him.”

In between all this fashionable banter, Astros ace Justin Verlander photo bombs Bregman and Altuve. Yeah, these guys sort of get along.

Of course, the biggest joyride in baseball will become even more fun if free agents Dallas Keuchel and/or Marwin Gonzalez unexpectedly still return as Astros owner Jim Crane is now openly imagining.

These Astros may not play in the media capital of the world — or South Beach — but they feel their window is only really starting to open, one world championship already in the history books.

“We’ve got a great team,” Altuve says. “Probably the best in the big leagues. We’ve got the best players. We’ve got Alex, Carlos, (George) Springer as our superstars.”

This isn’t Alex Bregman talking either. Jose Altuve isn’t one for bragging. Notice how the former AL MVP doesn’t even include himself in the superstar category. But sometimes you’ve got to speak your truth.

And shake your head at your teammate’s hat.
