Having trouble starting the conversation on your dating app? So you’ve found the cutest of the cute with all the right stuff, but what to say? What to say! Bumble, the dating app in which women make the first move, to the rescue with its Convo Starters.

With an assist from Bumble, you no longer need to hook your creative friends into putting words into your mouth or rather words into your chatter in order to impress on that first match. Launched in 2014 and serving 47 million users, the “ladies first” app has developed 20 conversation starters for each of its three categories — Bumble Date, Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz.

If only in the dark ages of  Sadie Hawkins, women had had such a resourceful guide to making the first move. Of course, in those days, women who did take the initiative in dating were considered brash or loose or kooky.

From it’s inception by founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, Bumble has celebrated its mission of ending misogyny and empowering women around the world. The company boasts that its platform is built around kindness, respect, and equality and that it holds its users accountable for their actions and has zero tolerance for hate, aggression or bullying.

Since its founding, the business model has expanded to include networking for business and friendship connections, thus the three categories of Convo Starters. See the Bumble FAQ here.

Herewith five conversation starters from each of Bumble’s categories:

Bumble Date: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? What’s one thing you won’t ever do again? On a scale of 1 to 10, how spontaneous are you? What’s one thing that would make your day better right now? You seem like you’d know the difference between “your” and “you’re.” I’d just like to point out that we looked pretty good together on the match screen. What’s your go-to lie when playing “two truths and a lie?” What’s the best first move you’ve seen on Bumble? Looking for ideas . . .

Bumble BFF: Do you have a podcast you regularly learn something from? What unique way of practicing self-care do you recommend? What’s your go-to way to cure boredom? What’s the most interesting thing you’ve seen or read this week? How do you unwind after an especially rough day? When someone unexpectedly drops by for a visit, do they find your place a wreck or totally in order? (Actually, this writer, allergic to messy bessys, would use this one for the date thing as well.)

Bumble Bizz: How did you get your first big break and what was it? What was the best team you’ve ever work like? Real talk: What popular career advice do you disagree with? When did you feel like you really hit your stride in your career? Have you found there’s a lot of opportunity to grow your career in our city? If you wrote a book about the workplace, what would it be titled?

Shelby’s personal add for Bumble Date: If you wrote a book about yourself, what would the title be?

At the same time that Bumble is promoting the Convo Starters, the company has announced its  partnership with tennis great Serena Williams. “The Ball Is in Her Court” campaign introduces Williams as Bumble’s latest global advisor.
