Foodie Cruise Hits the Caribbean and Brings the Local Wonders Onboard: It’s the Perfect Escape for Any True Food or Luxury Lover

BY Promoted Series Correspondent

Looking for the perfect foodie escape? How about the ultimate food cruise?

Celebrity Cruises is offering a Caribbean Culinary Cruise with Iris McCallister, the co-founder of Dallas’ premier food and wine festival Chefs for Farmers. You’ll essentially be eating your way through the Caribbean — with the help of an expert guide. Ports of call include San Juan, Puerto Rico; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

This special cruise sails April 8 through 15, 2018, still giving you plenty of time to plan.

And salivate over the foodie thrills to come. Almost every cruise touts its food. The difference is this is a cruise where eating well (and local in the ports of call) is the main itinerary.

Cruisers will enjoy a stroll through Old San Juan, tasting their way through historical neighborhoods. The St. Thomas stop is centered around a progressive three-course meal at a local fruit farm, restaurant and bar (they’ll also be time to enjoy historic Charlotte Amalie).

But the main event is Chef Market Discoveries — winner of the 2016 Travel Weekly Shore Excursions Silver Magellan Award — with “The Flavors of Marigot.” You’ll join McCallister and the executive chef of the ship in St. Maarten for a visit to a local Dutch cheese shop and sample various cheeses paired with wine. Then it’s time for a scenic drive over Cay Hill to St. Maarten’s French capital, Marigot.

You’ll enjoy shore excursions that expose you to the best local markets.

Browse fresh spices, herbs, and produce; enjoy a special tasting after a unique demonstration; and learn to source local vegetables and fish. The journey ends at Grand Case, the French gourmet capital of the Caribbean, where you’ll visit a renowned local restaurant with a breathtaking view of the bay.

It’s a foodie’s dream day — and it doesn’t even end when everyone gets back on the boat at the end of the day. A dinner featuring the treasures found in St. Maarten will be prepared on the ship for everyone to enjoy.

Custom Cruising

Speaking of your time on the water, there are options to get your personal butler (book a Suite), a spa-inspired cabin (go Aqua Class) or a Concierge class cabin. Celebrity Cruises are known for how customized they can be. You can craft the vacation that fits you (or the special someone you’re giving this adventure to) within the overall cruise.

While foodie shore excursions bring this cruise to another level, the renowned Celebrity amenities are also at your beck and call while you’re on the water.

It’s good to be a foodie VIP.
