Dallas’ 10 Best Pools — Hotel Retreats that Make the Texas Summer Bearable

BY // 07.18.17

It’s July and, unlike many of the city’s residents, you’re still in Dallas. At this point in the Texas summer, the only good reason to go outside is to get into a pool. You may not be on vacation – but have no FOMO, a sunny getaway is closer than you think.

Dallas hotels are a treasure trove of stylish pools and fun in the sun. We made a list of the very best hotel pools so you can summer like a tourist.

The Stoneleigh

If you’re searching for a pool party, look no farther than The Stoneleigh. The Uptown hotel has DJ Blake Ward and friends on deck every weekend, Instagram-ready swan floaties, and frozen cocktails flowing freely. Keep an eye on the hotel’s Facebook page for special events like poolside yoga and night swims.

Belmont Hotel

Sitting atop a hill in Oak Cliff, this arty mid-century hotel looks especially good in the summertime. The hotel pool and adjacent lawn offer expansive views of downtown Dallas and frequently host concerts and parties. This locale is best enjoyed with a fruity cocktail and Pucci bikini — retro vibes are aplenty.

The Joule

You have probably seen it looming above Main Street like a giant aquamarine; the crown gem of the Joule is its gravity-defying, glass-walled rooftop pool. You “must” be a hotel guest to swim at most of the pools on this list, but at the Joule you really must be a hotel guest.

Or figure out how to make it up to the roof without a key card – but booking a staycation sounds much more relaxing.

The W

With its 16th floor Wet Deck, the W Hotel pioneered a new era of high altitude swimming pools in Dallas, for which we are very grateful. And while it might not be the newest or trendiest of trendy pools, it’s still a pretty happening spot. The Wet Deck opens its waters to non-guests for fitness events, cocktail hours, pool parties, and more.

Hotel Zaza

Bar hop your way down McKinney Avenue and into Hotel Zaza’s posh pool. The poolside bar is open to the public, and the weekend scene gets lively. The pool itself is pretty small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up in style. Settle into a chic lounge chair, order one of the insane looking fruit platters, and embrace the tacky-glam atmosphere.

NYLO Southside

NYLO Southside offers yet another option for rooftop swimming in town, in the up-and-coming neighborhood of The Cedars. Some of the best views of the Dallas skyline can be found at the infinity pool and the poolside bar. The Soda Bar is open to the public, and serves specialty cocktails and small plates.

Hotel Crescent Court

There are pools for partying, and then there are pools for relaxing; The Crescent’s serene pool falls into the latter category. ‘Treat yo self’ with a day at the hotel’s renowned spa, and top it off with a leisurely swim – by the way, food and beverage service is available poolside.

Omni Dallas

Sick of rooftop pools yet? Neither are we. Besides, the Omni’s infinity pool has one big advantage over the others. It is heated and available year-round. This urban oasis has a roomy terrace, a jacuzzi, a fire pit, cozy cabanas, and — of course — gorgeous views of downtown.

The Fairmont

The Fairmont’s terrace exudes classic elegance with its roomy deck, junior Olympic-size swimming pool, and lush vegetable garden. The pool is family-friendly and hosts sunset Dive-In Movies every Saturday of the summer.

The Adolphus

The Adolphus opened a luxe seventh floor swimming pool last year as part of the hotel’s comprehensive renovation. Keep cool in a semi-submerged lounge chair or a shady private cabana. The poolside menu has plenty of refreshing, summery bites to snack on while you sunbathe.
