Hot Women and Their Fast Cars Take Over River Oaks District: Expect to See This Houston First Event Roaring Into Other Cities

It was truly a fasten-your-seatbelt Saturday at River Oaks District when 27 femmes roared in behind the wheels of their supercars for the inaugural Houston Heels & Horsepower event with headliner social media star Supercar Blondie, the Dubai-based fast-driving blogger with nearly a million Instagram followers.

Every curbside parking space in the luxe shopping district glistened with the shiniest of Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis from both the participating women and from local Houston dealers. With price tags ranging from $70,000 to beyond $372,000 for one smashing Ferrari, the offerings were aspirational for some visitors, a buying opportunity for others.

For example, the fabulously sleek Maserati convertible (V8 engine, 150 horsepower, speeds up to 185 mph), priced at $179,300, from the Helfman dealership was sold by day’s end.

Attracting even more to the crush of supercar junkies was Alex Hirschi, aka Supercar Blondie and a mega star in the world of fast cars. The fetching blonde tells Forbes magazine, “I’ve driven Ferrari 488 GTB, the 488 Spider, the McLaren 570s and 540c, the Bentley GT3R, GT Speed and V8s, Mercedes AMG GTs, Lamborghini Huracán, and many others.”

The Saturday morning of hot cars (and perfect weather) was the brainchild of supercar aficionado Diane Caplan, who partnered with River Oaks District for the mouthwatering display of fabulous cars.

“Having been in the luxury auto industry for many years, I am often participating in the local coffee and car shows that are happening each month. The big thing missing is more women and their cars,” Caplan says. “I have been wanting to do a car show for the ladies, but knew I wanted to do something very exclusive, that would truly spoil and celebrate the ladies and their cars, along with showcasing some of my favorite luxury dealers in Houston.”

And this is just the beginning as Caplan hopes to expand the Heels & Horsepower biennial concept to other cities. As Supercar Blondie posted on her popular Instagram page, “Thanks for supporting women who love to drive. I look forward to the next one!”
