You know you’re in for a treat when a restaurant’s slogan is “damn good tacos.” Try Torchy’s taco of the month, The Scarecrow, which consists of pumpkin seed-breaded chicken tenders, roasted poblano peppers, escabeche carrots, queso fresco, cilantro and creamy chipotle ranch served inside a flour tortilla. Or ask for the secret menu to take advantage of special off-book flavors.

Velvet Taco opened its Houston location three short months ago, but the Dallas import is serving up flavorful tacos that can’t be missed. Try one of their signatures like the chicken tikka masala taco or go Cajun with the crispy soft shell crawfish taco.

You can even head to Velvet Taco’s back door to pick up a whole house-roasted rotisserie chicken. For $20, the bird comes with six house-made corn tortillas, two sides of elote-style corn, roasted corn pico de gallo and hot sauce.
