Super Mom Kate Upton Brings Baby Genevieve to Ballpark— and Justin Verlander Goes on One Sweet Roll

A Supermodel, a Super Pitcher and a Super Baby Help Power Houston Astros

From supermodel to super mom, Kate Upton continues to tackle things with grace. Five months after giving birth to her daughter Genevieve, Upton is still a committed baseball super fan.

At least when her husband Justin Verlander is on the mound.

Upton brought Baby Genevieve to Minute Maid Park to watch dad pitch against the New York Yankees earlier this month — and Verlander hasn’t lost since. Think that’s coincidence?

Verlander ran his record to 3-0 post Genevieve baseball outing with a seven-inning stifling of the Texas Rangers in Arlington Friday night, turning in his best start of the season. In his last 19 innings (which started with the six innings his daughter saw — or at least as much as a 5-month-old sees anything — against the Yankees), Verlander’s racked up 25 strikeouts while only allowing five runs.

Meanwhile, the Astros have ripped off 11 wins in 12 games, upping their record to 13-6.

And you thought being a new parent was stressful? It sure seems to agree with Justin Verlander and Kate Upton.

Baby Genevieve was held in her mom’s lap for much of her first Minute Maid Park outing. (Check out F. Carter Smith’s exclusive PaperCity photo of the scene in the gallery above this story.) It’s never too early to enjoy some Astros baseball.

Especially when your dad is one of the best pitchers on the planet.

Of course, Baby Genevieve’s mom is pretty special, too. The 26-year-old Upton is an international force in her own right. And she’s already posted a breastfeeding photo to promote the empowerment message of International Women’s Day and helped launch the Adopt. Rescue. Heal. program with Verlander that puts service dogs and veterans in need together in just the last few months.

While being a new mom — and still making it out to the ballpark for Verlander’s only home start of the season so far.

Justin Verlander is scheduled to make his next Minute Maid Park start this Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins. Whether Baby Genevieve makes another appearance at the ballpark or not, there is no doubt she has dad (and mom) on some kind of happy roll.
