Get ready for more kolaches, cinnamon rolls, croissants and strudel niks: Houston-based Kolache Factory, which already has a bakery in Plano, continues its DFW-area takeover with a new location at 5995 Preston Road in Frisco. Besides yummy treats, the bakery will also offer call-ahead and online ordering, plus a full-service Katz Coffee bar … Greenville Avenue welcomes its newest dinner destination Rapscallion Tuesday, July 7. The neighborhood bistro serves a menu influenced by chef Nathan Tate’s upbringing on a Rockwell family farm, with in-house dry-aged beef, pork, poultry and seafood … Thursday, July 9, Paul Martin’s American Grill opens on 3848 Oak Lawn Avenue — the first Texas iteration and ninth in the country. Fresh seafood, free-range meats and poultry, artisan cheeses and cured meats top the menu.

Lisa Garza-Selcer, co-owner of fave fried-chicken haunt Sissy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar, will introduce us to her new concept, Shelby Hall, this fall. The downtown restaurant, located at 1525 Elm Street, will offer delectable seafood, rotisserie game and fowl, plus an oyster bar. Garza-Selcer called on Patton Robertson (former exec chef at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck) to oversee dining operations at both Shelby Hall ane Sissy’s … Get a taste of Paris when Diner en Blanc, the Parisian-style pop-up picnic with an all-white dress code, arrives in Dallas this fall. True to tradition, the location for the dinner will remain top-secret until the night of the event, with guests bringing their own tables, chairs, white linens, silverware and food. The evening wraps with Parisian-style street performances, music and a Pytrotex fireworks show. An exact date will be announced later this month … Burgeoning Preston Hollow Village will welcome Matchbox restaurant in early 2016 — the first Texas location for the Washington, D.C.-based Matchbox Food Group. The 8,250-square-foot space will have 350 seats, plus an outdoor patio. Pizzas fired at 800 degrees in a custom-built masonry oven will be the central menu offering, keeping company with Angus burgers and sandwiches … The Dallas Design District will up the ante this fall with Quill, a cocktail lounge that will take over the former BoConcept space. Co-owners Joe Palladino and Richard Ellman also own the adjacent Oak restaurant. Meanwhile, Oak’s sister eatery, Mexican-food hot spot El Bolero (also helmed by Palladino and Ellman), is now managed by John Tesar, who is also rumored to be involved with Quill.

Wine and Dine
Join award-winning chef Scott Gottlich and Todd Ginsberg, the 2014 James Beard Foundation semifinalist, for a farm-inspired wine dinner Saturday, July 18, at The Second Floor in the Galleria. Scotch & Sausage, the late-night Oak Lawn concept that opened last summer, has transitioned into Le Taco, serving handmade fusion tacos and an extensive tequila list. At the helm is chef Daniel Tarasevich, The Second Floor’s former exec chef.
