Shopping for finds at Antiques Week is a great way to work up an appetite, so we’ve compiled a list of restaurants in the area we think you’ll like. (We’ve also included a few other types of destinations for your pleasure.)

Lizzie Lou
After lunch at Royers, stop into this funky shop next door, where you never know what you will find, but you’ll be glad you did. Lizzie Lou’s Mary Lou Marks and Meredith Hadaway create “girly taxidermy” animal heads covered in vintage textiles. Arcana includes antiques, jewelry, old portraits, vintage signs and art. Open late during antiques show season. 107 Main St., Round Top 832.372.7217

Leftovers
American and European country antiques sourced from around the world on buying trips by owners Ed Fulkerson and Michael Breddin are repurposed and given new life at Leftovers. Fulkerson and Breddin met while working at the famed Homestead in Fredericksburg; in 2006, they opened the barn, which houses antiques, apothecary, epicurean items, bedding, gardening supplies and clothing. 3900 Hwy 290, Brenham, 979.830.8496, leftoversantiques.net

Junk Gypsy
In 1998, the charismatic Sikes family — mom Janie and daughters Amie and Jolie — traveled across Texas selling their collection of very fine junk at flea markets. They landed an HGTV show, scored a few celebrity clients (Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert), and set up a shop in Round Top. Weathered western gear, stamped silver necklaces and washed cotton linens at Junk Gypsy all sell the on-the-road, down-on-her-luck but high-on-her-attitude gypsy way of life. You can also find their punchy line of linens and accessories at PB Teen. 1215 S. State Highway 237, Round Top 979.249.5865

Los Patrones
This the place to see and be seen for small-town Tex-Mex and margaritas. 101 S. Washington St., 979.249.5696.

Royers Cafe
A Round Top tradition since 1987, Bud RoyersRoyers Cafe serves up comfort food in its jam-packed farmhouse restaurant, and ships its famous pies to devotees all over the country. Down the street in Henkel Square is Royers Pie Haven. 105 E. Main St., Round Top, 979.249.3611

Fayetteville

Joe’s Place
If you can’t get a table in Round Top for dinner during the antiques shows, make the 20-minute drive to Fayetteville to Joe’s Place, housed in a former saloon. The extensive beer and wine list here pairs nicely with rib-eyes and chicken-fried steak. It’s on the square, where a small-venue antiques show is open a few days before antiques week and throughout the fair. 120 N. Live Oak St., Fayetteville, 979.378.9035, joesplacetx.com.

Orsak’s Café
Just down the sidewalk from Joe’s Place is Orsak’s Café, a homey lunch and dinner spot for juicy burgers. Don’t miss the homemade desserts. 121 W. Fayette St., Fayetteville, 979.378.2719.

Maison Miral
Round Top is a town punctuated with fabulous eye candy of the ancien variety, but one of its most fascinating stops is Maison Miral, located in the town’s oldest commercial building, circa 1847. Here you’ll find a wonderful cache of French antiques and art, including oil paintings stretching over three centuries (both signed and unsigned) and statuary dating from the 17th century. Marie Miral Turner, daughter of the store’s owners, Pierre and Lora Lou Miral, says of her parents’ thriving business, “It’s like stepping into another time and place — a French salon of sorts.” In Round Top, customers and townsfolk do, indeed, sit and converse with espresso or wine in hand.

The shop has an impressive inventory by anyone’s standards. On a given day, clients will find formal and rustic Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Louis Philippe, Napoleon and Empire antiques on hand, ranging from armoires, buffets and commodes to tables and grandfather clocks, all in impeccable condition. Maison Miral’s backstory is just as deliciously romantic. The Mirals met in the South of France when Lora Lou was studying there during the 1960s. Husband Pierre subsequently retired from the oil business, and the couple’s avid interest in art and antiques evolved into a treasure in Round Top. 104 Washington St., Round Top, 979.353.1094 (Patricia Mora)

And …
Ann and Bob Rauch, homeowners in Round Top for nine years, have purchased Bybee Square in Round Top, with plans to develop a restaurant in the old stone brewery house. Their sons-in-law hold positions at Brasserie 19 and Liberty Kitchen. (While they won’t be involved in the restaurant, the Rauchs have great taste and a refined palate.) We can’t wait to see who and what they bring to town.
