Bayou City Arts Festival

Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14

10 am to 6 pm

This annual award-winning fine arts festival hits the 47-year mark with a celebration that’s better than ever. The Art Colony Association shines a loving spotlight on more than 300 of the most talented artists and craftsmen across the world.

How can you turn down a trip to one of the top outdoor fine arts festivals in the country?

Each year, the Bayou City Arts Festival draws crowds of more than 20,000 people itching to enjoy the phenomenal artistry. It’s two days of food, fun and the chance to get some one-on-one time with the exhibiting artists.

Wings Over Houston + Space Center Houston Ticket Package

Don’t make your weekend plans on the fly. At Wings Over Houston, world-famous high fliers from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels streak across the sky. They soar high above the crowd in an exciting spectacle — but that’s not all you’ll get with your ticket.

The Texas Liberator: Witness to the Holocaust

October 10 through October 28

9 am to 5 pm

This exhibit at the Holocaust Museum shares the amazing story of 24 U.S. soldiers who bravely liberated the concentration camps in Europe at the end of World War II. Texas Tech University curated the exhibit Texas Liberators in tandem with the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission.

It provides a window into the horrors and history of the devastating war in an engaging and interactive environment. Visitors get the opportunity to tour 24 panels, each honoring a Texas Liberator. Learn more about Houston’s own liberators Johnnie Marino, “Chick” Havey, Ben Love and A.I. Schepps.

Halloween Monster Mayhem at the Children’s Museum of Houston

Now through October 31

Monsters, magic and mystery collide at one of America’s best children’s museums in this epic, spooky kid-friendly Halloween bash. It’s three weeks of ghosts and ghoulies, creepies and crawlies roaming the halls. It’s some pumpkin-filled fun with a PG rating.

Special activities run rampant, like the trick-or-treat monster hunt from 4 to 6 pm Mondays through Wednesdays, 4 to 8 pm on Thursdays and all-day weekends through Halloween night. Collect candy and check out costumes as you go.

Or get ready to wear something that can get wet on October 27 for the slime-soaking Slime-Off. It all leads up to the spooktacular Halloween Monster Mash Bash.

Nightly Spirits Haunted Ghost Tour Pub Crawl

Through October 31 (Fridays and Saturdays this month)

8:30 pm to 10 pm

Join Visit Houston for this haunted tour through Downtown. Stroll among skeletons and your costumed guides as you get whisked back to the 1800s. Begin at Public Services Wine & Whisky and wind your way through the neighborhood at night.

You’ll keep track of each other during this spooky spectacle with glow-in-the-dark bracelets and take-home koozies. You can stop along the way, but be prepared to pay for your own drinks — if you dare.
