What

It’s a catwalk for a cure because, as every woman knows, everything’s prettier in pink.  MainStreet America is taking on a perfect shade of pink to remind women to take control of their health and be breast cancer aware.  On Saturday October 8 from 12 noon until 4 p.m. MainStreet America will become #PinkStreet for women to enjoy a day of education, fashion and fun—all in support of Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at the Woodlands outreach programs.  Admission is free for those who wear pink.

#PinkStreet kicks off at 12 noon with mini-makeovers at the Beauty Bar courtesy of Laura Mercier, Neiman Marcus, Houston Galleria and The Cos Bar at Market Street—The Woodlands, followed by fun posing for glamour shots and a take-home cover photo compliments of Comcast.

Also at 12 noon, it’s the Pink Palate cooking demonstration, presented by Comcast, featuring guest celebrity Chef Tiffani Faison, from Bravo’s, “Top Chef,” who’ll share her passion for food and cooking. She has made frequent appearances on NBC’s TODAY, PBS’s Simply Ming and was Host of “Tiffani’s Taste” and “Food Truck Friday” on NECN.

At 2pm, the fashion fun begins with the Fashionably Pink Fashion Show where attendees can catwalk on a pink ribbon-shaped runway to show off their pink attire and accessories and win prizes from Market Street—The Woodlands.  Experts from Page Parkes will be on hand to offer catwalk etiquette and tips.  A variety of prizes will be awarded in three categories: Pink from Head to Toe (best pink outfit), A Head for Pink (best hat), and Twinkle Toes (best pink stiletto).  While celebrity judges tally the awards, guests will enjoy an exclusive Haute Pink fashion show presented by Market Street – The Woodlands.  Cristina Kooker, Great Day Houston reporter will emcee the show.

During the event, guests can take a virtual tour of the Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands and meet their breast care team to become more educated about the importance of early detection screening. Women can learn more about the latest cancer prevention and imaging technologies from Magda Ghobashy, M.D., a board-certified radiologist and fellowship-trained in breast mammography who serves as medical director of the Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands. Dr. Ghobashy will be available from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for a physician question-and-answer information session.

The fabulous day of pink also features sparkling pink drinks and sweet treats from Whole Foods, Drew’s Pastry Place and Nothing Bundt Cakes; a Wall of Hope to provide a unique space to hang a ribbon in memory of a loved one; a Pink Lobby Store to see how to incorporate the 2016 Pantone Color of the Year, Rose Quartz, in any home and chances to win hourly raffles for spa treatments and more.  Women will leave #PinkStreet with pink glam bags and positively-pink memories of an unforgettable day.
