The Kimbell Art Museum invites you to attend lectures by eminent scholars to inaugurate the exhibition Flesh and Blood: Italian Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum, which features triumphs of Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings from Naples.
The symposium will begin with a welcome and introductions by Eric M. Lee, director, Kimbell Art Museum, and will follow with the following lectures: “Capodimonte: Its History and Collection” by Sylvain Bellenger, director, Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Naples; “Bolognese Artists in Naples” by Babette Bohn, professor of art history, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth; “Naples and Spain: Patrons, Painters, and Paintings across the Mediterranean Sea” by Guillaume Kientz, curator of European art, Kimbell Art Museum; “Caravaggio and Naples” by Keith Christiansen, John Pope-Hennessey Chairman of European Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and “From Spark to Flame: The Baroque in Seventeenth-Century Naples” by Viviana Farina, professor, Accademia di Bella Arti di Napoli.
