They came. They saw. They oohed and aahed. The trés chic crowd that turned out at the stunning Miles Redd-designed home in River Oaks had come to pay tribute to the city’s uber hostess, Becca Cason Thrash, and her dynamic efforts in charitable fundraising.

Hosted by homeowners Elizabeth and Gary Petersen along with The Society Diaries editor-in-chief Lance Avery Morgan, the cocktail reception felt like a festive holiday happening with spirits high and an impressive turnout that crossed all manner of social sets.

Where else would you find mingling in unison Amy and Jim Lee, Sima Ladjevardian, Rania Daniel, Joan Schnitzer Levy, Bill Baldwin and Fady Armanious, Frann Lichtenstein, Sheridan Williams, Todd Fiscus and Ceron, and Greggory Burk?

The inspiration behind The Society Diaries issue celebrating La Becca was clear. “She does so much for so many, as we all know,” Morgan said. “She’s done lots of covers on lots of magazines, but taking it to the international level, we love doing it. We’re part of her fan club. It’s a legion that’s international.”

Loads of photos stretch across the generous spread. “Becca did so many costume changes at these parties and I think we caught them all,” Morgan said. “And there’s also the story of the missing dress in Venice which will have fashionistas on edge with how it ends up. There’s always a fashion emergency that can be solved with Becca, that’s for sure.”

For the spotlight on this night, Cason Thrash wore a vintage animal-print Dolce  & Gabbana dress with YSL belt, which she proudly proclaimed had been in her closet for 35 years.

“I love the story,” she cooed. “Normally, you just don’t get a story with that many details.”

Timing of the article could not have been more poignant. The party diva and her husband, John Thrash, have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey, which delivered several feet of water in their art-filled Memorial area home. While they consider their next step, the Thrashes are bunking in a downtown high-rise.

“You know I’m a refugee,” Cason Thrash said. “So I’m taking a little time off right now to adjust to urban life while we renovate, regroup and decide what to do with our house. So it will be a while. I won’t be hosting any parties for a while but I’ll be attending lots of them. So I don’t want to be left off of any invitation list!”
