The 10 Best New Beauty Products — From CBD to Face Masks, the Beauty World is Changing

On the Ground at Indie Beauty Expo

BY

This week, Indie Beauty Expo held its third annual Dallas event at Sixty Five Hundred, the events space. With a goal of launching emerging brands into the beauty industry, the expo showed off a number of cool new beauty products.

Co-founder Jillian Wright, a celebrity esthetician and founder of her own skincare line, started Indie Beauty Expo five years ago to fill an unmet need in the beauty industry. The expo now has five shows held in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, London and Berlin.

“When I was a newbie in the beauty industry, I needed guidance,” Wright tells PaperCity. “I wanted to service a community of entrepreneurs to showcase their hard work and passion.”

Wright says that Dallas was chosen because of its large wellness community, and also because it’s more approachable for newbies.

“New brands can come here and get feedback,” she says. “It’s not as intimidating as a bigger city.”

There were more than 70 vendors at the expo this year, but we’ve narrowed down the list to 10 new products that caught our attention.

Cannibabe Lip Balm

There were about seven companies with CBD or CBD infused products at the expo, but Cannibabe stood out to me the most. Founder Megan Lyman details how her own medical issues were ultimately treated with the help of CBD. She’s very knowledgable and passionate about the subject and offered a form of CBD I had never seen before — CBD Lip Balm.

Infused with 100mg of pure CBD oil, it’s soothing and hydrating. All of Cannibabe’s products contain 0 percent THC. It costs $15 and can be purchased here.

Yenisi Beauty Hair Balm

is run by Dallas-based husband and wife team, Kardell and Brittnee Lethermon. They produce hair balm and body butter, and it was the hair balm that caught my attention. I saw a man spread a glob throughout his extraordinarily long beard and he seemed to love it.

The 4o-ounce hair balm is a triple-layered, deeply moisturizing hair balm meant to tame frizzy hair, restore split ends and stimulate hair growth. It smells like lavender and rosemary. It costs $21.99 and can be bought online.

Pure Aura Magnetic Face Mask

This one was definitely captivating to watch in action. First, you spread a creamy, gunpowder metal colored clay mask on your skin. You then use a magnet to remove it and it comes off completely clean. The benefits are glowing skin and hydrating and calming effects.

The face mask is $45 and comes with 3.5 ounces of clay mask. The Los Angeles-based company also does hologram face masks and oils. Check it out here.

Truhair Frothy Shampoo

This brand-new product from Truhair is a fluffy, micro-bubbling exfoliating shampoo that is sulfate-free. Compared to other sulfate-free shampoos, it’s light and frothy. Green caffeine energizing capsules burst to remove impurities and build up on hair and scalp.

It can be purchased here for $26.

The Good Patch

This product comes from Los Angeles-based La Mend. The company offers an array of safe and tested phytocannabinoid products. The Good Patch has 15 mg of CBD combined with other things like melatonin for sleep, menthol for stress relief, black cohosh for periods, and B1 and green tea extract for hangovers.

One patch costs $12. All you have to do is stick the patch on any venous area of skin for up to 12 hours or maximum effect. They also have hemp-free patches.

Flaunt Body Ingrown Treatment Mask

For the pesky problem of ingrown hairs and razor bump after shaving or waxing, Flaunt Body has created a solution. A gender neutral company, Flaunt creates personal grooming and lifestyle products for both men and women. The product comes with a serum enriched with aloe vera, cucumber, chamomile, Glycolic acid and natural extract of Centella Asiatica in a bio-cellulose mask.

It’s a face mask for your bikini line. It costs $9 for one or $40 for a pack of five.

VitaJuwel ViA Bottle

A modern interpretation of age-old traditions, VitaJuwel is gem-infused water. Yes, I thought this was strange as well. Does it work? I don’t know. But it looks cool. Gems are encased in glass within glass water bottles. The gems never touch the water, but are supposed to vitalize what you drink. I tried some and I guess it tasted better?

The company sells Via bottles, gem vials, decanters, and even pet water bowls. Check it out here.

Fruit of the Earth After Sun Aloe Vera Lotion With Blood Orange and Essential Oils

I’m about to start getting sunburned a lot so this new after sun product caught my eye. It provides moisturizing relief for dry, irritated and sunburned skin. The Cabana Beach Club line has many other sunscreen and after sun products with other scents as well, such as Mentha and Manuka honey.

The After Sun Blood Orange costs $8.99 and is available online.

Cannabliss Moisturizing Face Lotion

The CBD trend is real. This lightweight, daily moisturizer contains CBD and herbs including Schisandra, Goji Berry and Peony. These help to restore skin’s glow, prevent signs of aging, provide hydration, soften skin and protect against environmental stress and damage.

It’s certified vegan and available for $80 for a 50 ml bottle.

Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes

Advertised as “Dessert For Your Skin,” these sugar cubes are meant to be used in the shower or bath. One cube will exfoliate the entire body. You massage it over wet skin and concentrate it over any rough patches. The product is also paraben, sulfate and cruelty free.

Scents available in the cubes include rosé, peach, coconut, lemon, tangerine, apricot, blue raspberry, and coffee. A 16-ounce bottle costs $24.
