I first met Caroline Knapp a few months ago, just after she moved back to her home state of Texas from NYC. I had heard about her through friends and was intrigued by this young girl who seemed to have it all. The lifestyle blog that she founded and now curates, House of Harper, has amassed a prodigious following, attracting advertisers including Nordstrom and L’Oreal Paris.

So many questions for the budding Internet tycoon: How did she get her start? (Working in the buying office for Gilt Groupe.) Thoughts on being a mom? (Life-changing. In a good way) But most importantly, how is she managing the transition of the move? What are her go-to spots here? In her own words, the adorable, always-in-the-know, soft-spoken new mother reveals the names and places that have become her mainstays in this guided tour of the city:

Tiny Boxwoods quickly became my go-to spot. Whether for breakfast or dinner, you really can’t go wrong! I love a good indoor/outdoor atmosphere that can accommodate any weather.

3Coltivare is my new favorite dinner spot for girls’ night or date nights. They have amazing drinks while you wait for your table, and the atmosphere and food are spot on. I recommend sharing with friends so you can sample the most from the menu. Try to get a table outside in the garden.

4The Children’s Museum of Houston is a favorite indoor activity for Knox. It’s perfect for rainy days or hot summer days.

A true Houston gem. Between the colorful works of art, the splash pads and scheduled activities, there is something for everyone at Discovery Green Park. If you have little ones, come Tuesdays at 10 am for story time, where they have characters dress up and read to the kids. Before heading home, grab a delicious lunch and cold drink next door at The Grove.

David has become a friend and mentor to me since I moved to Houston. We are lucky to have such a talented designer and manufacturer representing our city in the fashion industry. David Peck USA is a rare space where you can shop his latest collection, get styled and fitted by the designer himself and even sneak back to see where everything is made — right here in Houston!

I love mixing beautiful antiques with unexpected pieces like modern art to give our home a welcoming blend of laidback sophistication. Joyce Horn Antiques has beautiful pieces from around the world, and their sweet dog, Beemer, always keeps Knox entertained while I browse.

I was excited when this adorable new Southern boutique opened in our neighborhood. Monkee’s of Houston‘s owners are always there to show you the latest deliveries, and they have everything from Hunter Bell to Chanel. That’s my kind of boutique!

Shopping for Knox is just as fun as shopping for myself! I love popping into Itsy Bitsy to find special-occasion clothes for Knox and gifts for his friends and cousins.

I met The Vintage Contessa herself at a charity event and was fascinated with her business. I had to see it for myself, so I visited her office/showroom so I could marvel at all the lustworthy vintage Chanel and Hermès in person. Now, we partner together often, but I still can’t believe all the beautiful and rare pieces in front of my eyes.
