Carlos Correa and his Fiancée Daniella Rodriguez Get a Big Ring Shopping Assist from a Major Name: It’s Good to be the World Series Couple

Originally, jewelry designer David Yurman‘s visit to his namesake Galleria boutique was for a book signing event benefiting the American Red Cross. But then the Houston Astros won the World Series. And shortstop Carlos Correa and his fiancée Daniella Rodriguez stopped by to select wedding bands. The wedding bands are important considering that the mega diamond engagement ring she received on the field at Dodger Stadium isn’t your everyday, Costco shopping sort of bauble.

So Yurman stepped up to the plate to give the high-profile couple an assist. They enjoyed the experience so much that Correa posted a photo of the threesome on Instagram.

The evening behind the momentous ring purchase was part of Yurman’s fast-paced itinerary that has him swooping from four stores in California, to teaching a master class at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles to making personal appearances in Austin, San Antonio, and finally Houston, where he declared after a day of horseback riding in Katy,  “I’m part Texan. I really am.”

The reason behind the peripatetic schedule is publication of his first book, David Yurman Cable, written with his wife Sybil Yurman. At the cocktail party celebrating the coffee table tome, the designer was riding high. The book was three years in the making because, he says, “I was very reluctant to do it. It’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

“It’s an interesting book because it’s not only on me. It’s on what we make. It’s on the iconic form that we use which is cable. And the history of cable and how long it’s been around. It’s been around over 30,000 years. That form has been used to decorate for 30,000 years and also to build bridges.”

The store was chockablock with fashionables engaging in early holiday shopping and saluting the designer who first introduced his line in Houston in 1982. He says that it has been a glorious ride here. “Not only are they receptive of my work, Texas women taught me a lot. Basically big is better,” he said. “Don’t be shy. Just go for it. They gave me a lot of confidence.”

In those early days, Neiman Marcus, Tootsies and the Becker family carried his merchandise which evolved from cable designs in silver, gemstones and pearls to designs in gold and diamonds. Neiman’s still carries David Yurman while his namesake boutique draws its own brand loyalists.

Among guests at the cocktail party/book signing was Galleria GM Greg Noble. “We’re super excited to have David Yurman at this center,” Noble said. “We’re very proud of what we’ve done at the Galleria and we continually want to improve this as one of the best assets in the world and David Yurman is just one example.”
