Houston’s Rising Star Jewelry Designer Stuns With Southwestern Style

Meet Christina Greene — a Name to Know

BY // 07.03.19

Houston-based jewelry designer Christina Greene is riding high these days. She has just introduced her 16th collection of must-have, wallet-friendly jewelry. Anthropologie Europe has picked up her collections. And her upcoming wedding in Crested Butte will serve as introduction 0f her bridal collection which will debut in the fall.

So there was much to shout about when Greene invited a savvy clutch of influencers to a’Bouzy for champagne, caviar, and a look at that 16th collection — the Geometric.

A graduate of Texas Christian University and Parsons School of Design, Greene launched her flourishing enterprise in 2011 after being stopped at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo by a woman who admired her bracelet, which Greene had designed, and bought it right off of Greene’s wrist. With that first transaction, a business was born.

It’s no surprise then that her turquoise, black onyx and mother of pearl pieces bear a southwestern influence. (She is a regular at the Rodeo and the Houston Ballet Nutcracker market.) But the Geometric is something different.

“The brand is known for southwestern inspired statement pieces so with this line I wanted to take a step back from the expected and add something different to my collection,” she tells PaperCity. “It’s a nod to the modern coupled with classic, semi-precious stones and textured metals for a strong, feminine style.”

Indeed, this fresh approach to design, made with her traditional 18k gold-plating over hypoallergenic and nickel-free brass, is young yet sophisticated and obtainable. Think angular and diamond shapes in airy configurations. Each design of bracelets, rings earrings and necklaces comes in any of her three signature stones — Kingman turquoise from Arizona and black onyx and mother of pearl from selected experts in Jaipur, India.

The pieces are priced from $125 (rings) to $358 (the Carina necklace in turquoise). The same necklace with black onyx or mother of pearl is priced at $350.

While Greene’s collections are carried locally by Tootsies and Dillard’s, the Geometric is being introduced online, prior to being available in stores. Green’s brand is growing with more than $500,000 in sales last year. She sells online as well as in more than 75 retail locations in the United States and abroad. Stay tuned, as she is expanding her fashionable repertoire to include handbags, home goods and rodeo wear.
