Forty Five Ten Makes a Big New York Move: Beloved Texas Store Jumps Into Manhattan’s Hottest Restaurant and Shopping Development

Dallas’ favorite boutique is getting ready to make its New York City debut. Forty Five Ten’s revealed plans for a new location in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards, slated to open in March 2019.

Forty Five Ten Hudson Yards will be the sixth location for the 18-year-old brand, which currently has stores across Texas and California. Forty Five Ten partnered with New York-based firm Snarkitecture to create a design concept which reflects its distinctive aesthetic and attention to unusual design, while paying homage to the site’s industrial history.

The 16,000-square-foot boutique will offer the brand’s cutting-edge selection of emerging and pillar designers in women’s and men’s apparel, home and beauty.

“There’s nothing more thrilling to me than finding new talent and undiscovered gems, and showcasing them in a way only Forty Five Ten can,” vice president of creative and women’s fashion director Taylor Tomasi Hill says in a statement. “Hudson Yards will allow us to grow our New York market, yet keep our personal approach to every element of the business — it’s the only way that feels right to us.”

Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards is one of Manhattan’s fastest-growing professional and cultural hubs. The industrial-chic development in the West Side will feature restaurants from celebrated chefs and restaurateurs Thomas Keller, José Andrés, David Chang and more. Shoppers will also have direct access to the High Line and an underground connection to the No. 7 subway.

“New York is the shopping capital of the world, largely because of its diverse retail clientele and creative magnetism. Hudson Yards brings these worlds together in one energetic hub, which was a compelling draw for us. The Hudson Yards location is a logical next step for our brand, as well as an inspiring one, and we couldn’t be more excited,” Forty Five Ten CEO Katherine Greenberg says in a statement.

Named for its original street address on McKinney Avenue, Forty Five Ten has blossomed into an internationally-recognized fashion mecca since it was founded in 2000 by Brian Bolke, Bill Mackin and the late Shelly Musselman. Following its acquisition by Headington Companies in 2014, the brand opened an iconic Downtown Dallas flagship, and, most recently, its first West Coast outpost in Napa. The Hudson Yards boutique will be the second largest location, following the flagship.
