Hillary Clinton Makes a Bold Fashion Switch With a Push from a Pop Superstar: If the Shoe Fits…

BY Ashley Coley // 04.19.17

Hillary Clinton has worn many shoes throughout her impressive career as Secretary of State, First Lady, and the Democratic presidential nominee. Now, she can add shoe model to her résume.

It’s been revealed that Clinton served as the muse behind a pair of lucite heels designed by pop star turned fashion entrepreneur Katy Perry.

Perry posted a photo on Instagram promoting her new shoe line and in the image was none other than Clinton herself, modeling her namesake “The Hillary” pump in light pink. The suede shoe that also comes in sea-foam green, showcases a clear block heel filled with golden stars and moons that encourages wearers to “step in and reach for the stars.”

Clinton, who’s never been known to take fashion risks, has been testing out bolder looks following her stunning election loss. During one of her recent public appearance’s in March at a diversity conference in San Francisco, she came out wearing a decorative floral blouse, leather blazer, and a statement necklace; seemingly much edgier than her go-to neutral colored pantsuit. It only makes sense that the next move in her style transformation is wearing her very own namesake pumps.

Hillary Clinton isn’t the only powerhouse woman who is part of Katy Perry’s shoe collection, though.

“I chose some of my favorite girlfriends and my female family members and named all the shoes after them,” Perry tells People magazine. “So they’re all getting their own shoe I guess, so that’s really fun. I tried to pair the shoes that best represented their personality.

“I didn’t necessarily shape the shoe after them, but I decided to make the shoes more name specific in the end.”

Other women who have been featured in Perry’s shoe collection include Caitlyn Jenner, Sia and Girls stars Lena Dunham and Allison Williams.
