The shopping scene in Houston is forever changing — and growing more upscale. It can be difficult to keep up with all the new stores and big events, but don’t worry: PaperCity has you covered.

Retail News
The Galleria is beefing up its retail offerings with a number of new boutiques. Now open in the growing mall: beauty store NYX Professional Makeup, fashion fitness boutique Six:02 and luxury textiles store Loro Piana. Coming later this month: shoe company Sam Edelman, high-end Mexican shoe store Cuadra, luxury cosmetics and fragrance line Trésor Rare, British clothing store Ted Baker; designer men’s denim brand Robin’s Jeans, Italian fashion designer AG Adriano Goldschmied, and Soap Secret.

Dallas-based Hiatus Spa + Retreat is now open at 5740 San Felipe Street. The brand is bringing its signature subscription model to Tanglewood, which gives members complimentary and discounted access to Hiatus’ 50-plus treatments for $69 per month — think massages, facials, mani-pedis, body wraps, hydrotherapy, and more.

Fourteen treatment rooms, a nail-therapy lounge and zero-gravity seating fill the 5,078-square-foot day spa designed by Austin-based Kopicki Design. This marks the spa’s fourth Texas location.

Sporting goods takes on a whole new meaning with the opening of Gordy & Sons — “the finest shop for hunting and fly fishing to be found” — at 22 Waugh Drive. Specializing in the rare and extraordinary, the outdoors boutique carries everything from fine guns and fly fishing essentials to accessories and sporting art.

Online eyeglasses and sunglasses retailer Warby Parker will finally open up shop in Houston this summer in the Heights Mercantile development at 645 Heights Boulevard. The digital success, which made a name for itself pushing affordable, trendy frames, currently operates more than 50 retail locations across the United States and Canada.

Faith-based brand Altar’d State has opened its third Houston-area location in Rice Village at 2530 University Boulevard. The boho-chic boutique offers women’s apparel, footwear, accessories, bags, and home decor. The brand also has outposts in The Woodlands, Baybrook Mall and will open a fourth location SugarLand Town Square later this year.

River Oaks District adds yet another amenity to its posh retail offerings — personal shopping. Houston stylist Lisa Powers of Stylepoint will now be on site to assist customers with their every shopping need, including providing personalized wardrobe consultations in River Oaks District’s new styling studio and and pulling looks from boutiques for purchase.

According to River Oaks District, Powers “got her start as a stylist at Neiman Marcus in Dallas and has quietly been dressing some of Houston’s most elite fashion players.” Shoppers can secure appointments by emailing personalshopping@riveroaksdistrict.com.
