Major Houston Store News: A New H&M Crops Up, Highland Village Expands & Canadian Fave Moves In

Vancouver-based Kit and Ace brings its luxe casual collection to Rice Village (2401 Times Blvd.) on Thursday, August 27. The 1,400-square-foot store carries select items from the Kit and Ace collection including core styles made with the brand’s signature Technical Cashmere fabric — a machine‐washable cashmere enhanced with technical fibers. Owners are Shannon and JJ WilsonLululemon founder Chip Wilson’s wife and son.

French scent emporium Diptyque opens its first Texas store in the forthcoming River Oaks District on Thursday, October 1, offering Diptyque eau de toilette and parfum, home fragrance and the complete series of the famed candles, body care and the luscious seasonal and limited-edition launches.

Staying true to the brand’s elegant heritage, the River Oaks Diptyque boutique will showcase a chic neutral color palette and mid-century design elements. The rear wall of the store is decorated with forest-inspired wallpaper to pay homage to the brand’s original boutique — 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain.

Fitness franchise Orangetheory Fitness opens its first inner-loop location on Friday, August 28, in West University (2511 Bissonnet St.) The personal-0training studio has six other Houston-area locations.

H&M opens its third Houston-area location in CityCentre on Thursday, September 10, offering $300 in giveaways to the first 200 guests. Bring a bag of unwanted clothing for a chance to win a gift card of as much as $250.

Highland Village increases its stock with two new retail additions. Women’s brand Madewell opens on Tuesday, September 1, followed by coastal clothier Tommy Bahama.

Balani Custom Clothiers opens its first Texas store on Thursday, October 1, at 3601 West Alabama St. Founded in 1961, the Chicago-based boutique offers men’s custom-tailored business wear, formal wear, casual clothing and accessories. Private consultations involve 30 measurements taken that are then hand-cut for precision.

Neiman Marcus opens a Louboutin Beauty Shop in the cosmetics department on Wednesday, September 30, stocking Louboutin’s luxe nail lacquers and lip colors.

One-stop interiors shop Savannah House, owned by interior designer Kathy Edwards, has moved into its new location at 5012 Nolda. The new outpost offers interior design services as well as home furnishings. Watch for the grand opening on Thursday, September 17.

SCARVES FOR A CAUSE
Houston-based accessory line Manoosh has teamed with the Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation to create a special scarf in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month (September). The Susan scarf, named in honor of SPB’s namesake and founder, who passed away last year, is teal (the national ovarian cancer color) and features a painting by local abstract artist Marilyn Byles. It retails for $130; all proceeds go to SPB to help fund research and spread awareness. Tootsies hosts a kickoff party to celebrate the scarf’s launch on Wednesday, September 16. Houston-based lifestyle blogger, ovarian cancer survivor and author Megan Silianoff models the Susan scarf. Sillianoff will host the scarf’s kick-off party at Tootsies on Wednesday, September 16.

CHARMING CHARLIE GOES INTERNATIONAL
Houston-based jewelry and accessory retailer Charming Charlie expands abroad with the opening of two Dubai, United Arab Emirates locations. Stationed at City Center Mirdif and Ibn Battuta Mall, the stores are founder and CEO Charlie Chanaratsopon’s first outposts outside North America. While the products have been altered to fit local tastes, the shopping experience remains the same as the U.S. stores. Be on the lookout for more international locations, with the possibility of a Philippines location this fall and a Mexico location next spring.

South American accessories designer Claudia Lobão showcases her handmade jewels at Tootsies on August 19 and 20 … David Yurman presents the Midnight Ice collection at Neiman Marcus on Thursday, August 20, with Marie Claire associate accessories editor Elana Zajdman and David Yurman stylist Travis Ngo. Neiman’s rounds out the month of August with a Giambattista Valli trunk show on August 25 and 26.

Neiman Marcus adds luxury women’s ready-to-wear line Altuzarra to its inventory, in designer sportswear … Beginning in October, Tootsies carries Fendi ready-to-wear, shoes and handbags … Elizabeth Anthony welcomes two new fine-jewelry lines this fall: South American designer Carla Amorim, whose jewelry is inspired by music, architecture, nature and faith, and Australian designer Katherine Jetter, whose collection showcases precious stones, gold and diamonds. Elizabeth Anthony also adds Giambattista Valli, Romona Keveza Luxe RTW, Mikael D, and Randi Rahm to its ready-to-wear inventory.
