The whimsical pin is a work of art in 18K white and yellow gold, and it’s encrusted in diamonds, sapphires, rubies and demantoid garnets.

Signed by Schlumberger, it has a starting bid of $5,000 and is estimated to fetch between $10,000 and $15,000. The auction’s 1,300 other lots include necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and brooches, many of them encrusted in large, colorful stones.

Schlumberger started out as a costume jewelry designer for Elsa Schiaparelli, joining Tiffany & Co. in 1955, where he spent two decades. He was the first designer to be allowed to sign his name to Tiffany jewelry. Best known for his nature designs, such as butterflies, birds, sea creatures and flowers, Schlumberger’s creations were sought after by the world’s social elite and remain highly prized and collectible.
