A Party in a Box — Suddenly Throwing the Perfect Home Shindig Isn’t So Stressful: Houston Entrepreneur Knows a Hostess With the Mostess Wins

BY // 02.11.18

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and the reminder of gift giving and indulgent treats that share the love is all around us. It’s also all over social media. Whether it is impressively stylish flowers or a delicious looking meal with a camera ready sweet treat or a Galentine’s day get-together, this holiday is never without the photos to prove that style and love are indeed in the air.

Mostess, an entertaining (literally) spin on the mundane subscription box can provide the inspiration for an evening that will be flooding your significant others and friends’ social media feeds. We’ve seen the beauty boxes full of samples that crowd our bathroom counters and inevitably end up shoved in a drawer or at the bottom of a handbag, but this is a membership box I can get on board with.

After working in a Washington D.C. corporate job and realizing how hard it is to conquer the professional world while still being a social media worthy entertainer, Houstonian Lindsey Rose King founded a subscription box service that sends members a seasonally curated box of home decor and hosting items four times a year.

King makes it easy to be the hostess with the most cutting edge, never boring entertainment tools. In theory, you won’t even have to break into a sweat — or log onto Pinterest for inspiration.

From linens to serving utensils and table top decor, each box comes with five to seven items curated by King herself, complete with a Mostess booklet of cocktails and appetizer recipes for the season and entertaining ideas and tips, all perfect compliments to the items received.

Its literally a party in a box. A party that comes to you. Each box is $135 or a full year subscription runs $480 (for four boxes, with one delivered every three months).

The items that fill this helpful box just might push your soiree over the edge. They’re usually things that no one, not even your most Martha Stewart-like friend, would ever think of. It is amazing how useful a hand-held milk frother for your post dinner coffee cocktails can be. A set of chic martini stirrers and a jar of artisanal olives complete with full instructions on how to craft the perfect, shaken not stirred beverage James  Bond prefers will have your guests wanting more and asking for advice on how to style their bar carts to boot.

If you feel your table is looking bland, a set of printed plaid dessert plates and a ruby red decorative glass bowl will have your friends live tweeting the entire meal. The best part is, you can shop the Mostess Market online to get more of the items that you fall in love with.
