Houston Blogger Turned Interior Designer is All the Buzz

Houston blogger turned interior designer Paloma Contreras continues her triumphs in the design world. On the heels of opening her new shop, Paloma & Co, Contreras debuts her home accessories collection with Williams Sonoma Home, and in May, she designed a room at the vetted Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse in New York.

It’s been quite a ride for Contreras, who also published her first book, Dream Design Live (Abrams), last September and was named to the Elle Decor A-List in 2018 and 2019. Contreras hit it off with the Williams Sonoma team when they met in 2016 at the Southern Style Now conference, after she borrowed some items for a showhouse bedroom she was designing.

More than two years of trading sketches and ideas culminated in an 18-piece collection of bedding, pillows, accessories and lighting, riffing on her signature Greek key pattern, black-and-white stripes, and appliqué. Standouts are a pair of striped obelisks and a large hexagonal brass vase.

As for Contreras’ room in Kips Bay, she popped a punch in a ladies’ sitting room, with custom de Gournay chinoiserie panels and chartreuse curtains crafted by The Shade Store in Schumacher moire silk.

Cool Girl Home Goods

Ultimate cool girl Laure Hériard Dubreuil has launched a home-goods collection at her boutique The Webster. From fashion to interiors, Dubreuil is known for her fabulous taste — she serves on the expert committee of LVMH’s annual fashion prize for young designers, and the downtown townhouse she shares with her husband, artist Aaron Young, and her young son was featured in Architectural Digest in 2016. Shopping at The Webster has always been an immersive experience, as each location is residentially styled, the printed dresses and statement sandals accompanied by fabulous art on vintage-wallpapered walls and luscious upholstered sofas.

Customers have often wanted to buy the home decor as well as the fashion. And thus, The Webster Home was born — a collection of tableware, objets d’art, an furniture selected by creative director Stéphane Parmentier, a Parisian architect/designer who has collaborated with Hermès and Christofle. Highlights include twisted hand-blown glass carafes by Laurence Brabant and the Meta Memphis chain floor lamp by artist Franz West.

While each item in the collection, which includes vintage offerings, is precious in its manufacturing, everything is meant to be used, worn, and loved — an extension of The Webster lifestyle.
