Reimaging the Chair With Mexican Flair: Iconic French Furniture Maker Reaches Beyond the Borders With New Exhibit (See It Now)

BY // 04.20.18

Don’t miss a unique and beautiful exhibit at Roche Bobois before it goes away.

The France-based international furniture maker celebrates multicultural influences with a new exhibit of chairs created by Mexican artisans. Two dozen of Roche Bobois’ most iconic chairs have been reimagined in the classic embroidery, beading, and weavings endemic to craftspeople from 32 regions across Mexico.

Chairs include Roche Bobois’ Loop, Ava, Florian, and Lully designs and range from sleek contemporary to various fun, French Louis looks and beyond.

The L’Artesania de Vivre project first launched at the prestigious Alcazar del Castillo Chaputalpec in Mexico City, and traveled to museums throughout Mexico before coming to Houston last November. Now in Dallas, the chairs are displayed at One Arts Plaza through Tuesday, April 24.

A closing cocktail event that evening from 6 to 8pm  is open to the public on Tuesday night, but please RSVP at [email protected].

View the exhibit at One Arts Plaza, 722 Routh Street, Suite 126, and also in the lobby.
