Houston’s real estate market helps drive the city — and the realtors leading the way are true impact makers. In this new regular series, we profile some of the Bayou City’s most interesting realtors.

Today, we get to know Caroline Bean of Compass.

Number of years in real estate business. 8.

Area of expertise. Helping first-time homebuyers, buyers who are downsizing and everything in between — from new construction to the ability to negotiate for my clients from beginning to end.

A favorite listing. 5660 Wickersham. This house had been taken to the studs, with gorgeous finishes. It had beautiful curb appeal. And, I loved working with the sellers.

Hottest up-and-coming neighborhood in Houston. Lynn Park/Highland Village has really taken off with resales and new-construction homes.

Best location for purchasing a second home or vacation home. In Texas, Lake McQueeney or the Hill Country. Outside of Texas, Rosemary Beach/Watercolor.

Best advice for buying a home. Always use a realtor, because they will be able to give you the best advice from beginning to end. Secondly, be patient finding the right home. It may be the first house you look, at or it may be the 100th.

Best advice for selling your home. Always put your best foot forward with pricing, staging and timing. If you are off on any of these, it can cause your house to go stale or take a long time to sell.

A real-estate trend you’re currently excited about. I love brass and un-lacquered-brass finishes throughout the plumbing and hardware fixtures in a home. And I love that wallpaper has made a comeback!

Predictions for where the market is headed. I think the Houston market is still very strong. And, according to economists, we should see a strong market into 2020.

The number-one thing all homebuyers should know. Location is so important when purchasing a home. That should be number one on your list when starting your search.

3659 Meadow Lake Ln Caroline Bean
“Location is so important,” says Caroline Bean of this stunning property at 3659 Meadow Lake

The neighborhoods you call home. Lynn Park/Highland Village, River Oaks, West University, The Heights, Tanglewood, Briargrove, Briarmeadow, and Memorial.

The most-used room in your own house. Definitely the kitchen. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, eating, and hanging out with friends and family.

How you make a house a home. Make it personal with family pictures, family heirlooms and items you purchase together as a family over time.

Your dream house, if cost is no object. A house overlooking the water in Pebble Beach, California.

Community involvement and philanthropic affiliations. American Cancer Society and the Children’s Museum of Houston.

Your home away from home. My car. Between driving kids around and showing real estate, I spend a lot of time in my car.

What you love most about living in Houston. There is so much to love about Houston, but I love the diversity of everything it has to offer, from restaurants, shopping, museums and everything in between.

Items currently on your coffee table. Books, a candle, picture frames and decorative objects.

Houston restaurant you couldn’t live without. Tiny Boxwoods, Relish, or any Carrabba’s restaurant.

143 4×6 Fig Salad
The Fig Salad at Relish is a go to for Caroline’s midweek power lunches.

Most-shopped stores in Houston. Itsy Bitsy boutique and Kuhl-Linscomb.

If you weren’t in your current profession, what you would be doing. I love interior design, so possibly something in that field.

Guilty pleasure. Eating boneless buffalo wings at Pappas Burger.
