Picking Up the Pieces: New WallPapers Inspired by a Special Japanese Technique Are Creating Major Texas Buzz

BY // 10.17.16

Porter Teleo’s new wall-covering collection is inspired by the traditional Japanese porcelain repair technique known as Kintsugi, which uses metal to highlight the seams and breaks of cherished objects.

Created by hand on Japanese paper one sheet at a time, artist Kelly Porter uses metallic links and heavily mottled backgrounds. The Dallas native founded Porter Teleo with friend and interior designer Bridgett Cochran; they now work from their studio in Kansas City.

Favored by top interior designers including Kelly Wearstler, their graphic wallpapers have appeared in Elle Decor and other stylish home publications.
