The Ultimate Grab-and-Go Restaurant?

There’s a new spot to grab a croissant and coffee on the go. With winter (sort of) rolling into Downtown Dallas, Commissary is here just in time to heat things up. The off-site bakery for Headington Companies made its debut this week at the intersection of Main and Field Streets.

Only a few blocks from Headington Companies’ flagship hotel (The Joule) and boutiques, Commissary includes a butcher shop, bakery and artisanal café. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a wide variety of fresh pastries and breads, coffee, house-cured meats, handmade pastas, gelato, grab-and-go sandwiches and more. It will also provide office and event catering, culinary events, and specialty gifts.

Under the direction of artist Jorge Pardo, the five-story building holding Commissary has been covered in more than 27,000 mosaic tiles in shades of blue, which continue inside. The revamped building will also be home to the international corporate offices of 5G, and creative firm Swoon, The Studio.

On the street level, Commissary has a 2,500 square-foot space which captures the open ambiance and warmth of a traditional bakery. The 40-seat dining area is the perfect spot for meetings or socializing morning, noon and night.

Commissary’s culinary department will be operated by The Joule’s former executive pastry chef Ruben Torano, executive chef Zach Dunphy, and Michael Sindoni.

“Commissary is a fantastic addition to the expanding fabric of downtown Dallas. There is a growing demand for offerings of this kind, that pair superior product with convenience. The opportunity to provide an amazing product, while creating another noteworthy building downtown, made this project even more exciting,” Michael Tregoning, president of Headington Companies, says in a statement.

Commissary is open seven days a week, Mondays through Thursdays from 7 am to 10 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 7 am to 11 pm and on Sundays from 7 am to 9 pm.
