Dallas’ Best Margaritas — 11 Restaurants That Elevate the Classic: Your National Margarita Day Planner

BY Caroline Hogan // 02.16.18

It’s not Cinco de Mayo just yet, but there is another reason to celebrate. National Margarita Day is approaching (it’s next Thursday, February 22 — pencil it in your datebook), and with it, the opportunity to sample some of Dallas’ best margaritas.

Here, a curated list of the most thirst-quenching and innovative drinks our city has to offer. Let’s take a peek at the menu, shall we?

Mi Cocina

One of the most well-known drinks in DFW, the Mambo Taxi at Mi Cocina is a traditional margarita with a twist. The twist figuratively — and literally — being the house-made Sangria with Pinot Noir, Brandy, and fruit juices the bartenders swirl in. If the food at MiCo isn’t enough to lure you back every week, this surely will. Not a sangria fan? The restaurant offers other tasty, specialty margaritas. See the full drink menu here.

Stirr

If you’d rather share, and get the best bang for your buck, Stirr’s Rose Rita will tickle your fancy. This very large drink features Avion Silver, Bijour Rose, lemon juice, St. Germain, and, of course, fresh strawberries and purée. Enjoy it with some friends while taking in Dallas’ best patio views.

Moxie’s Grill & Bar

Don Julio Blanco Agave Tequila, Texas orange, fresh basil, pineapple simple syrup, and fresh-pressed lime make for one spectacular drink. Enjoy Moxie’s Straight Outta Cozumel Margarita and join the cult following. It’s a favorite among many for a reason.

Jalisco Norte

In homage to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Jalisco Norte has named a cocktail after him. The Keeping Up With the Jerry Joneses takes native Jalisco agave syrup and fuses it with Gran Patron Platinum Tequila, Grand Marnier Centenario, and fresh-squeezed lime. Only the best for our Boys.

Ten50 BBQ

When life hands you $3 margaritas, you buy five. Ten50 BBQ is offering up this deal on National Margarita Day, so you might as well try one (or more). The Mango Margarita is a sweet treat with Patron Silver Tequila, Cointreau, fresh mango, basil, and Ten50’s homemade Sweet & Sour mix. Be sure to check out the House and 3 Alarm Margaritas while you’re there.

Meso Maya

Meso Maya’s Avocado Margarita will probably be the closet thing you have to a green juice on this day. This unique drink takes avocados to a new level, mixing them with fresh pineapple and lime juices, Triple Sec, and Casa Noble Crystal. Who needs avocados on your toast when you can have them in your cocktail?

El Bolero

If you don’t love “extras” in your drinks, head to El Bolero in the Design District for their Sage Margarita. It has all the classic elements with just the right amount of garnish, including cilantro, sage, and pineapple.

Mesero

The Brandon from Mesero is unlike the rest we’ve seen. Not only is it a triple-decker of mango, strawberry, and regular margarita flavors, but it’s served in a wine glass. This tells us we’re allowed to have margaritas for brunch.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar

Ever heard of egg whites in your drink? Tupelo Honey’s Honey Margarita is made with Sauza blue tequila, lemon, lime, egg white, mint, and chilli-salt. The “honey” comes from the homemade honey liqueur. Don’t let the ingredients fool you: The drink still tastes like a regular margarita, just with a little something special. Find Tupelo Honey at The Star in Frisco.

Gloria’s

Next to Mi Cocina, Gloria’s is the most tried-and-true place to order a margarita. We especially love their classic Signature Margarita, but why not switch things up with the Spicy Pineapple version? The pineapple chipotle flavor is a taste unlike anything you’ve ever tried. Browse Gloria’s cocktail menu here.

Bulla Gastrobar

This concoction is almost too pretty to drink… Split tapas with friends while sipping Bulla Gastrobar’s Spanish Margarita. The Jimador Reposado, Grand Marnier, Amontillado sherry, lime juice, and agave nectar will put you right into the spirit of the day.
