The French Room has long been Dallas’ most esteemed restaurant – a place for special occasions, celebrations… and a late-night snack?

Here’s one new reason to visit the legendary – and newly restored – icon at The Adolphus: There’s now a late-night dessert tasting menu. The storied fine dining restaurant recently introduced the whimsical offering, and we highly recommend checking out the sweet experience.

Not to mention, at $30 per person, it’s definitely the most affordable way to enjoy The French Room.

The menu changes periodically, incorporating the best produce of the season. Here’s what the summer menu has in store…

The tasting begins with a sweet amuse bouche before diving into three heavier courses. First off is a Blackberry Clafoutis with merlot redux and a dollop of whipped cream. What, you ask, is a clafoutis? According to Google, it is a baked French dessert made from a flan-like batter. However, according to my tastebuds, it is somewhere in between a cobbler and a pancake (and it’s utterly delicious).

Next up, you have the Cara Cara Brûlée, a sumptuous, citrus-infused take on the classic custard dessert. Its crisp, caramelized surface is topped with gems of vibrant Cara Cara oranges and slivers of fresh mint.

The feast continues with a sinfully indulgent Chocolate Souffle. Upon arrival, it is carefully punctured and filled with a velvety gianduja anglaise.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The final course in the over-the-top dessert tasting might be prettiest; A selection of adorable mignardises is delivered to the table on a dainty silver dessert stand. On my visit, the lineup included a soft caramel, a blueberry financier, a truffle, and a gumdrop-like candy that tasted like sunshine and berries.

If you want to take the experience up a notch, get the wine pairings with each course – you won’t regret it.
