Historic Farmers Market Returns to its Original North Texas Home

The original McKinney Farmers Market is back. After being forced to relocate to a temporary spot two years ago, the historic farmers market has finally returned to Chestnut Square.

Taking place every Saturday from 8 am to noon, this is a great North Texas market to pick up your fresh produce, meat and specialty items for the week.

The temporary move was for a nearby construction project on a nine-acre site between the downtown square and Chestnut Historic Village Square. The development features new apartments, retail, dining and office space. But construction is finally complete and the farmers market can get back to its original site.

Vendors come from all over Texas. Farmers and ranchers include Buck Creek Meats, Baugh Farms, Local Family Farms, Texas Olive Ranch, and many more.  There are also specialty foods from places like Aunt Nettie’s Sweets & Treats, The Amazing Dip Company and Savor Patisserie. Baked goods, plants, flowers and craft item vendors also make appearances.

You can make it a family event and bring the kids for face painting, live music and pony rides. There are also chicken coops, village tours and art. Sometimes exercise classes are put on at the square, as well. Pure Barre recently held a barre class outside.

The farmers market will be open every Saturday through November 23.
