What: The Center for Houston’s Future 2019 Future of Leadership luncheon

Where: Hilton Americas-Houston

PC Moment: The future of philanthropy was the topic on the table as Darren Walker, Ford Foundation president, and Laura Arnold, co-chair of Arnold Ventures, discussed the issue before an audience of more than 600 community and business leaders. Leadership and philanthropy are the guiding principles of the center’s work thus the luncheon focus.

In that vein, H-E-B received the 16th annual Eugene H. Vaughan Award for Civic Leadership, the grocery chain recognized for its impressive commitment to community investment through its Spirit of Giving philosophy. Accepting the honor on behalf of H-E-B was Scott McClelland, H-E-B president and Greater Houston Partnership chair.

The luncheon, chaired by METRO chair Carrin Patman and Gordian Group chair Fred Zeidman, raised $320,000 for center programs.
