What: The First Tee of Greater Houston inaugural “Core Values” luncheon

Where: River Oaks Country Club

PC Moment: Nine community leaders supporting First Tee and its Nine Core Values were honored at the sellout gathering that earned more than $200,000. Those being honored were Mayor Sylvester Turner (Perservance), Ariana Saenz (Courtesy), Dr. Norman Berkman (Integrity), Roger Dauzat (Honesty), Lynn Elsenhans (Confidence), Dr. Guy Sconzo (Judgment), Mary Bass (Responsibility), Tom Tacl (Sportsmanship), and Dr. Joseph Swafford (Respect).

The First Tee program employs golf as a means of teaching youngsters the importance of those nine core values. Nine green grass learning facilities reach 300,000 students across 29 school districts in the Greater Houston Area. The non-profit is chartered by the Houston Golf Association.

The event was chaired by Dr. Kelly Larkin and Lisa Lim with Phyllis Williams and Lauren Randle serving as auction chairs. Pat and Mike Booker led the charge as honorary chairs. Handling the introductions and awards presentations was emcee Deborah Duncan, Channel 11 CBS morning show host.

PC Seen: Mayor Pro Tem Jerry Davis, Melinda Berkman, Claire Bey, Holly and John Kutalek, Mitch Lieberman, Jesus Saenz, Kenny Wells, Mary and Mike Bass, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Mariloli and Marvin Odum, Paul Thompson, Steve Timms, Theresa Birks, and Mia Foster.
