PC Moment: In celebration of the Houston stopover of the 77-year old DC-3 aircraft on the Breitling World Tour, popular jeweler Slade Lewis invited patrons and friends in for a timely fete. The party served to introduce the limited edition Navitimer chronograph Breitling, created especially for the DC-3 tour.

Yes, the watches, 500 in all, have been on board the DC-3 since its initial takeoff from Geneva, Switzerland. Houston was one of 12 stops in the United States during the plane’s six-month journey.

Breitling, inventor of the modern chronography, launched the tour of the legendary World War II aircraft in March in an effort to set the world record as the oldest plane to circle the globe. The plane, with the rare chronographs onboard, will complete its journey with ceremonies at the Breitling Sion Airshow in September in Switzerland. After that, the $8,000 timepieces, imbued with the significance of the record-breaking voyage, will be available for delivery.

Pilots of the vintage plane, Captains Francisco Agullo and Yannick Bovier, chatted with guests about the tour and the watches, samples of which were on display.
