What: Good Samaritan Foundation Pearl Ball

Where: River Oaks Country Club

PC Moment: It was a satisfying midweek, black-tie night out, a dinner dance, if you will, with a noble mission — raising funds for the Good Samaritan Foundation’s programs dedicated to clinical care and improving the quality of nurse education and training. By night’s end, more than $220,000 had been contributed by the gala crowd of more than 200. Applause, applause for chairs Dr. Courtney and Bill Toomey. Congratulations to Mark Barr, a charge nurse in the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Ben Taub General Hospital who received the Good Samaritan’s Excellence in Nursing Gold Medal. He shared how his experience as an amputee inspired him to become a nurse.

Who: Good Samaritan Foundation board chair Jason Fertitta and Courtney Fertitta, Abigail and Eric Berkman, Elizabeth and Charlie Leykum, Carmen and Butch Mach, Julie and Andrew Sudduth, Ruthie and Adam Miller, Caroline Finkelstein, Kimball and David Moriniere, Lauren and Warren Harris, Jenny and Chris Johnson, Shanell and Walker Moody, and Jo and David Andre.
