World AIDS Day Powered by Doubleheader Fundraiser and a Dynamic Duo in Houston: Groundbreaking Initiative Wins Shelby Hodge Vision Award

PC Moment: AIDS Foundation Houston and Avenue 360 Health & Wellness benefited from the doubleheader fundraiser that brought in more than $170,000 under leadership of chairs Jacob Sudhoff and Jerry Hooker.

Special guest at the luncheon and surprise guest at the underwriter reception was Emmy- and SAG-nominated actor, musician, and writer Tituss Burgess, best known as Titus Andromedon in the Emmy-nominated comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

More than 500 attended the luncheon event that honored the University of Houston Honors College Community Health Worker Initiative with the Shelby Hodge Vision Award for the initiative’s groundbreaking outreach work in communities with high HIV transmission rates. The award presented by Chevron’s Dr. Steve Frangos was received by assistant professor Dan Price, PhD. Mayor Sylvester Turner joined in the program, praising the work of the two non-profits.
