Temperatures are dropping, which means we finally get to wear the fabulous fall pieces we covet so much. We’re picking up a few classic, clean-lined staples from NET-A-PORTER in a sophisticated color palette of black, gray and wine-stained hues of burgundy, claret, plum and grape.
This time of year, we live in ponchos and shawls – this merino wool wrap from Burberry London is versatile (it can be worn as a cape, wrap or chunky scarf) and reversible (solid on one side and tonal-gray trademark check on the reserve). A cashmere wrap from Madeleine Thompson in a graphic tricolor pattern goes with everything and is perfect for travel.
A black leather jacket is also on our must-have list for fall. The Saint Laurent Curtis fringed suede jacket is a little bit Western, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, while the Rick Owens Blister brushed-leather biker jacket nails the edgy-chic look. We love throwing a biker jacket over a cocktail dress or black tie gown to add a dose of unexpected drama.
We’re adding a few ankle-height boots into the rotation, too. We’re obsessed with the cuff, laces and tonal leather toe on these Chloé leather-paneled suede ankle boots in rich claret. The 3.5 inch-heel isn’t too high — it dresses up skinny jeans and pairs nicely with a cropped skirt. We’re also coveting a men’s footwear staple that has been updated for the ladies: the Chelsea boot, especially this soft-leather, heeled version from Chloé and this brogue-inspired patent-leather version from Prada.
The Chloé Faye bag serves as the perfect goes-with-everything, statement bag of the season. In storm-blue calf leather, camel and grape suede with gold chain hardware that adds intrigue, the design is feminine yet structured. Its medium size is optimal — it pulls double duty as an over-the-shoulder daytime bag and converts into a clutch for an evening look.
