Fashionistas ruled at River Oaks Country Club during the Passion for Fashion luncheon. With Courtney Hobson and Elizabeth Petersen as chairs and Melissa Mithoff as honoree, how could it be otherwise?

The uber glamorous trio of BFFs did a high-style turn on the stage at River Oaks Country Club. Hobson had many longing for her Oscar de la Renta blouson and ODL oversized, pearlized necklace and earrings, worn over vintage Louis Vuitton white jeans. Petersen, prepared for the country club’s notoriously frigid ballroom, topped her Vernon Maxwell dress with a stylish coat by Georgene.

The model-thin honoree gave a nod to the day’s featured designer — Rubin Singer. At a trunk show reception for the designer at Elizabeth Anthony the night before, Mithoff found the perfect dress, bought it, took it to her alterations person the morning of the event and wore it beautifully to the luncheon. It was the perfect move for the HCC Design Society Fashion Icon Award recipient.

It seemed that many among the 240 guests were on a fashion high. Consider Ceron‘s show-stopping ensemble — Alexander McQueen suit, Jimmy Choo velvet slippers and a mega necklace straight from the closet of Becca Cason Thrash. A counterbalance though nonetheless design-laden was Susan Sarofim in a spring frock by Dolce & Gabbana, shoes by Dior and carrying the ultimate-status symbol, an Hermés Birkin bag.

The midday fashion fete, attended by 240, benefited the Houston Community College fashion and interior design programs. Rubin Singer’s runway presentation of his fall 2017 ready-to-wear, including his slinky liquid fabrics, was made possible through Elizabeth Anthony and owner Julie Roberts, who had the perfect luncheon perch at the end of the catwalk with the designer seated between herself and Bobbie Nau.

The only one who could come near to matching Singer’s charm was emcee Neal Hamil, always handsome and always darling.
