October came and went, faster than we can say boo. My personal favorite part of the festivities is to refresh my Instagram feed to see our favorite celebrities trade in their tuxes and ball gowns for gory makeup, wigs and some of the best costumes I’ve ever seen.
It’s no doubt that Hollywood puts us all to shame when it comes to Halloween. Bomb parties, extravagant decorations and all the bells and whistles.
The inspiration ranged from political entourages, silver screen characters, social media influencers and dope 1990s icons. Some of this year’s standouts?
Katy Perry, who is no rookie when it comes to Halloween costumes, underwent a full prosthetic transformation to become Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Perry is a well-known supporter and has been seen multiple times on the campaign trail alongside Clinton.
This year’s costume came complete will a full presidential entourage including friend and agent Michael Kives, as President Bill Clinton and boyfriend, Orlando Bloom as a cartoon-ish Donald Trump. Perry got the stamp of approval from Clinton stating “This is great! She could be me when we finish the campaign.”
Actress and artist, Teyana Taylor gained inspiration for one of her two costumes from Instagram sensation Joanne the Scammer. If you’re not familiar with Joanne, she’s the fabulous Caucasian alter ego of @iambranden. He puts on his blonde ombrè wig, favorite white fur coat (it’s not complete if he doesn’t have a cigarette) and morphs into Joanne, who scams to keep up this fabulous Caucasian lifestyle. She occasionally reminds her ex-boyfriend of what he’s missed out on and how his new girlfriend is obviously beneath her. Check out his Instagram for a good laugh. We’ll chat later.
Kylie Jenner was definitely there to partayyy Saturday night, as she went all out as Christina Aguilera from her 2002 video “Dirrty.” The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan nailed the look from the personalized chaps, platinum blonde hair down to the nose and lip piercings. Let’s not forget to mention that Xtina was totally here for it reposting one of Kylie’s photos on her Instagram with the caption “YAASSSSS’….. Killin’ it @kyliejenner yes to dirrty 2016!! Get it girrrl.”
Bette Midler gave the world and ‘90s babies everywhere a blast from the past as she reprised her role as Winifred Sanderson from the 1993 cult classic, Hocus Pocus at the “Hulaween” party Friday night. It’s not a total surprise that Midler gave us this bit of nostalgia this Halloween as she mentioned in an interview with Katie Couric that even 20 years after its release, she still considers Hocus Pocus one of her favorite movies.
