Legendary Dallas Steakhouse Finally Expands with a New $4 Million Showcase Restaurant: A Dramatic Date Night Spot Awaits

Legendary Dallas restaurant Al Biernat’s is finally branching out this month. Nearly 20 years after establishing its original location on Oak Lawn Ave, the steakhouse is opening an outpost to the north.

The new Al Biernat’s will open on October 18 at 5251 Spring Valley Road, just east of the Dallas Tollway and north of The Galleria.

“I’ve wanted to open a second location for years, but I just needed to find the perfect space,” Al Biernat said in a statement. “When I heard this site was available, I knew we had to have it. It’s ideally situated to cater to our loyal clientele living in the northern suburbs, and it will give us a wonderful platform to serve a new group of guests that are not as familiar with our brand.”

The space, which previously housed Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, has undergone a major, $4 million transformation under the guidance of Al’s wife Jeannie Biernat and director of operations Brad Fuller. The Al Biernat’s team worked with architecture firm Architexas and design firm JonesBaker, both Dallas-based, to bring their vision to life.

The finished product should be even more dramatic than the swanky original location. It will be broken up into several small areas to create an intimate atmosphere. A three-story atrium will serve as a focal point of the entrance, spilling sunlight into the nearby bar area. The main dining room on the first floor will center around a fireplace, and the second floor will have private rooms available for events.

The “Blue Bar” on the second story will open to a large, open-air terrace.

The food and drink offerings will be mostly the same as those at Al Biernat’s Oak Lawn location. Anthony Van Camp will oversee the kitchens in both restaurants, with Pedro Ortiz as the new executive chef of Al Biernat’s North.

The restaurant will open for dinner on the main floor on Wednesday, October 18, and begin lunch service in mid-November – around the same time the second floor will make its debut.
