After a long day, the first thing on one’s mind is getting home and changing into something more comfortable. For the second year in a row, Cancer Below the Belt partners with Mezlan Shoes in The Galleria to invite guests to keep their shoes on, drop their pants and smile for the camera — all for a good cause.
Cancer Below the Belt was started in 2014 by Houston interior designer Kelly Gale Amen to raise awareness for cancer, specifically the 12 cancers that affect men and women below the belt. His hope is to expel stigmas, and start a candid conversation about genital cancers.
A photographer will take photos of guests dropping their pants, and everyone is encouraged to use the hashtag, #GetCaughtWithYourPantsDown, to help spread awareness over social media.
While entry to the event is free, raffle tickets are available for purchase. Prizes include Amen-designed Cancer Below the Belt pillows — the Athena Pillow and the Hora Commemorative Pillow — as well as a pair of shoes, socks, and shirts all courtesy Mezlan. Additionally, chocolate treats and libations will be offered throughout the event.
All proceeds from the night benefit cancer research and awareness. Since its inception, Cancer Below the Belt has raised more than $15,000 for cancer-related causes.
