New Pop-Up Shop Hits Nordstrom

One-of-a-Kind Baseball Caps and Bomber Jackets Just the Start

By //

After partnerships with in-demand brands like Nike, Rag & Bone and Warby Parker, Nordstrom launches its latest pop-in shop with popular boutique Opening Ceremony. The joint venture is the next installment of Pop-in@Nordstrom — the Seattle-based retailer’s series of themed in-store pop-up shops. The evolving concept is the brainchild of Olivia Kim, Nordstrom’s vice president of creative projects; she was previously at the helm of Opening Ceremony, serving as everything from a buyer to VP of creative for 10 years (she was also OC’s first employee).

The shop, which launched on Friday, November 6, and continues through Sunday, January 3, was designed by contemporary artist Max Lamb and will be available at seven Nordstrom locations, including Dallas’ NorthPark Center store (other locations include Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, Tyson’s Corner, Vancouver and Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles).

So just what can OC devotees expect from the shop?A mix of the brand’s styles for men and women, including pieces from Opening Ceremony’s resort 2016 collection, which draws its inspiration from the suburbs and dog-show culture. Think reversible faux-fur coats, leopard-patterned mini skirts, faux-leather tunics and classic varsity jackets. Also available will be a few collaborative projects exclusive to the Nordstrom pop-in. That’s right, an entirely separate line designed just for Nordstrom.

In addition to the Nordstrom collaboration, Opening Ceremony has partnered with Harding Lane for one-of-a-kind needlepoint baseball caps and Alpha Industries for custom reversible bomber jackets. Minnetonka also provides a crystal-studded twist to their staple slippers. Other brands, including Adam Selman, Dog Fever, Martone Bicycles and SMEG, will also be available.

If you don’t have access to one of the seven participating Nordstrom locations, don’t fret: You can shop the pop-in shop online here.
