A New Music-Inspired Coffee Shop Near SMU, Café Olivia Spinoff in Plano, and An Austin-Based Social Dining Concept To Debut in Dallas This Month

The Latest Local Restaurant Openings To Know About

By //

The Dallas restaurant scene is always changing. From highly anticipated newcomers to beloved spots bidding farewell to must-attend foodie events, there’s always something happening across the city. In this week’s Dallas Dish, we dive into three exciting new restaurant openings

Rollin Joe’s

3411 Asbury Street

Opening its doors this Friday, November 6, is a new coffee shop concept from Jerry Jones’ nephew and SMU alumnus, Jerry W. Mooty Jr., along with Kirk Thompson. Designed by Alexander Quintanilla of Q-ARC, the former long-time New York Sub space has been transformed into a hybrid vinyl listening lounge with a DJ booth and modern cafe. There’s also a covered patio and walk-up ordering with an exterior “Quick Sip” window for grab-and-go orders. Derived from a fictional character, “Joe,” who is a “laid-back, music-loving personality,” according to a release, Rollin Joe’s is meant to be an all-day gathering place for SMU students, Park Cities residents, and the surrounding community.

The menu features classic espresso drinks, frozen bevs, matcha, teas, fruit-forward refreshers, and energy drinks — with music-inspired names like the Gone Swimmin’ (an Americano), Fast Times (cold brew), Purple Rain, Funky Monkey, and more. In collaboration with King’s Hawaiian, a breakfast and lunch slider menu will offer options like the Bacon Me Crazy, Pork & Mindy, The Don with Genoa salami, capicola, ham and provolone, Mile High Club with ham, turkey and bacon, and more. Sounds like there will be lots to try, and guests can get a sneak peek at the special preview opening on November 5 from 3 pm to 7 pm.

Another cafe opening this week is the first Olivita spinoff from Café Olivia. Located in Plano, it’s a smaller format concept from the North Texas brand, which has quickly grown from its original Addison location that opened in fall 2025 to a downtown Dallas outpost in early 2026. Now, Olivita is opening on November 5. It’ll bring Café Olivia’s chef-driven cuisine and specialty coffee program to the Willow Bend area. Designed by Wallace Johnson Studio, the 2,335-square-foot café features a warm, coastal-Mediterranean aesthetic with terracotta and sage green accents, natural wood furnishings, and seating for 67 guests. Olivita brings Café Olivia’s signature seed-oil-free approach to its newest location with dishes including the Rising Pig breakfast sandwich, Oaxaca Mornings breakfast tacos, The Olivia chicken sandwich, miso salmon, and Green Goddess Cobb, along with signature beverages including the Pink Cloud, Olivia Latte, and Valencia Bloom.
